15U East Day One Recap

Tournament action at the 15U National Team Championships East began Thursday morning with games at the Red Sox 5Plex and Terry Park. A’s Baseball, the Florida Pokers and Georgia Select had strong showings as each head into day two with 2-0 records. A’s Baseball was dominant on the mound at Terry Park as the pitching staff blanked Team Panther and the Atlantic Coast Railers with back-to-back 3-0 wins. Offensively, the Florida Pokers stood out with a 15-2 win over the Fort Bend Texans, and an 18-9 win over Select 15U. Georgia Select provided one of the highlights of the day when it rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take down Florida Express, 7-6. Austin Wilkey drove in the winning run for Georgia Select on a sacrifice fly. Below are a few individual highlights from Thursday’s games.
  • Chase Solesky of the Florida Pokers was 6-for-8 with six RBIs combined in the Poker’s two wins Thursday. Solesky was also the  starting pitcher against the Fort Bend Texans and allowed two runs in five innings of work.
  • Cameron Hankins and Griffin Jolliff of Team Elite had strong offensive games in the team’s 10-5 win over Southwest Florida. Hankins was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Jolliff was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
  • Texas Stix righthander Matt Canterino allowed just one hit and struck out seven batters in five shutout innings on the mound in the Stix 12-2 win over Top Ten Florida Baseball.
